Plant-based Adventures: DMV (DC, Maryland, & virginia) - Part I

Food options: 5/5

Restaurants visited: Busboys & Poets, Mush, Fancy Radish, DC Vegan

After living in the DMV for nearly a decade, I am excited to return each time. There are always options between veggie-friendly menus and vegan restaurants. Even better, new restaurants pop all the time. I visited a couple that had been on my list to try.

After seeing the whole menu highlighted mushrooms, I had to make Mush DC my first stop when I landed in DC. It was hard deciding what to try because everything sounded delicious. There was a generous serving of oyster mushrooms on the sandwiches, and each bite was packed with flavor and fresh ingredients.

Izzit Chicken, Hand-Cut Spiced Fries, and Banh Mi Izzit Sandwich

Whenever I needed a good place to eat that could accommodate multiple dietary preferences, Busboys and Poets was always at the top of the list. It felt like old times revisiting such a welcoming space. I enjoyed vegan and gluten-free options while sharing dinner with great company at the 450 K and Shirlington locations.

Vegetable Quinoa Bowl

Fancy Radish definitely lived up to its name, and I had an elevated dinner experience. Each dish I tried was delicious, but I must order the Peruvian potatoes again next visit. The sauce was amazing, and I wanted to dip everything in it. The white chocolate and blood orange gel panna cotta was a delightful ending to a great meal with good company.

Going to dinner with people who like to order different meals and share makes me so happy. I wanted to try everything on the menu at DC Vegan, and we got pretty close with our party of five. Each dish we tried was met with rave reviews. I'm looking forward to exploring more of the menu next time.
